For our meeting today, Mr. Opiana showed pictures of different media formats. We were tasked to  classify them using a matrix

Soon after, we were assigned to define the types of media using our own understanding and words.

PRINT MEDIA

a type of media that is produced using ink and paper via printing processes.

BROADCAST MEDIA

a type of media wherein information is shared through different mediums on large scale or wide range of people.

NEW MEDIA

a type of media wherein the means of communication depends on the use of technological devices.

I learned that Media Convergence is the co-existence of print media, broadcast media (radio and television), the Internet, mobile phones, as well as others, allowing media content to flow across various platforms.

We were tasked to complete the table by filling up the platforms and specific examples in different media convergence in communication, education, advertisement/ commercial, news and entertainment.

For the last ten minutes of the class, we were to answer self- directed learning questions.

DESCRIBE HOW NEW TECHNOLOGIES HAVE LED TO THE CONVERGENCE OF TRADITIONAL AND NEW MEDIA

New technologies aid in the co-existence between traditional and new media. 

EXPLAIN HOW MEDIA CONVERGENCE CREATES NEW OPPORTUNITIES FOR INTERACTION

Media convergence helps in the interaction between the source of the information and receiver/s. Feedbacks could easily be given though different media platforms. An example of this is when there is a news article, instead of existing only In print media, it could also exists in an online website where people could post their comments or insights with no trouble.

DESCRIBE THE USE OF ONE OR TWO FORMS OF NEW MEDIA TO SHARE KNOWLEDGE AND INFORMATION ON A CURRENT ISSUE IN SOCIETY

News will be easier to deliver instead of just in one form of media. Not all people have the time to read or use traditional media that is why access to current events and issues is simpler.

EXPLAIN HOW A PERSON COULD BE PORTRAYED IN PUBLIC IN THE AGE OF MEDIA CONVERGENCE

A person can be judged only in the perception of one form of media. But in Media Convergence, everything could be seen on all different angles hence the person could be more known and understood.
